Swedru Municipal Hospital appeals for bigger generating plant

The Swedru Municipal Hospital has appealed to the Agona West Municipal Assembly, to procure 350 KV generating plant to ensure adequate power supply to the facility.

Dr Apetorgbor Dzordzorgbe, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, made the appeal at a get-together at which some hard working past and present staffs were awarded.

He said the 80 KV generating plant at the hospital cannot efficiently power equipment and other facilities at the hospital during power outages.

He said the hospital had inadequate accommodation for staff; adding that, most doctors who had been posted to the facility were encountering accommodation difficulties.

He said the Hospital lacks a number of facilities including theatre operating light, aesthetic machine, theatre bed, theatre stool and big size theatre autoclave.

Dr Dzordzorgbe, appealed to the office of the Agona West municipal Chief Executive to construct speed ramps near the facility to reduce difficulties patients and staff face in crossing the road to the hospital.

He said an appeal was made to the Ghana High Authority about two years ago but nothing was done.

He said, the hospital had acquired ultra sound machine, patients’ trolley and incubator, saying it had increased skilled deliveries by 23.9% and drastic reduction of maternal deaths for the first quarter of the year”.

Mr Emmanuel Kweku Tetteh, MCE for Agona West, said speed ramps would be constructed in the Municipality including the hospital, and that the Assembly was building five bungalows for doctors who would be posted to the Municipality.

Nana Ogidigram Okobioko Aseidu Kobina Botwe II, urged keep fit clubs at Agona Swedru to donate blood to the hospital.**
