Stigmatization against People living with HIV and AIDS still rife

Cape Coast,, Dec. 2, GNA - Stigmatization and discrimination against people living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) is still rife in the Cape Coast Metropolis, Mrs Rebecca Antwi-Baffuor, Focal Person for the Oguaa Sub-Committee on HIV and AIDS, observed on Thursday.

According to her, stigmatization and discrimination by some Ghanaians against PLWHAs was not the best because it eroded their confidence as human beings and made them to shy away from seeking treatment at health centres near them.

She had therefore appealed to all citizens to stop that behavior and to contribute their quota towards the government's efforts at ensuring that the disease if not eradicated, was reduced to the barest minimum within the next few years.
