Scheme indebted to the tune of over GH¢1,000,000

Ejisu, Jan 22, GNA - The Municipal Mutual Health Insurance Scheme in charge of Ejisu-Juaben Municipality is indebted to health institutions in the area.

As of October, last year, the scheme was indebted to health faciliti= es to a total amount of GH¢1,085,608.74.

Madam Alberta Lomotey, the Municipal Director of Health Service, disclosed these at a meeting to discuss ways of improving health care delivery in the Municipality, at Ejisu on Friday.

She said the highest amount of GH¢455,702.74 is owed to the Juaben Government Hospital and appealed to the National Health Insurance Authori= ty to as matter of urgency release funds for the payment of the debt. Madam Lomotey gave the assurance that the health institutions would continue to provide services to card bearers of the scheme. She appealed to the Ghana Health Service to post more doctors and nurses to the area to facilitate health delivery. Mr Oscar Acheampong, acting Municipal Manager of the Scheme, said efforts were being made to settle the debt. Mr Mohammed Boakye Agyemang, the Municipal Chief Executive, praised health workers in the area for their dedication to work.
