Sanitation Unit seizes unwholesome food at Madina

The Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit of La-Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly at the weekend arrested 37 hawkers who were selling along open drains in the Madina Central Market.

Some of the unprotected food items seized included fish, vegetables, meat and bags of gari; were exposed to dust and houseflies.

Mr Joseph Quacoe, Head of the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit, also used the opportunity to educate the hawkers on how to keep food wholesome for consumption by the public.

Mr Quacoe said the seized items would be destroyed while the owners would be prosecuted at a sanitation court.
