NHIS registers prisoners and mental patients

A total of 479 inmates of the Ankaful Main, Maximum Prisons and Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital have benefited from the National Health Insurance Authority's Biometric Registration exercise currently underway in the Central Region.

The exercise was jointly led by the Central Regional Director of the NHIA, Mr. Francis Oti Frempong and the Komenda Edina-Eguafo-Abiem (KEEA) District Manager of the NHIA.

Of the total inmates registered, 235 came from the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital, 185 from the Ankaful Maximum Prisons and 59 from the Ankaful Main Prisons.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after the exercise, Mr. Frempong assured directors of the three institution of the NHIA's preparedness to cover all the vulnerable in their institutions.

Mr. Frempong reiterated his call on leaders of all organized groups in the region to co-operate with the NHIA field workers to ensure smooth and orderly implementation of the Biometric Registration programme.
