NHIA organizes blood donation exercise

The Northern Region office of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in partnership with the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) has organized a blood donation exercise to augment the stock in the Blood Bank of the TTH.

Staff of NHIA in the Region including members of the public, participated in the exercise, which was held in Tamale on Tuesday, with the NHIA using the exercise to register new subscribers onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

NHIA in the Region has declared December 22, as an “NHIA Blood Donation Day” forming part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives to promote health care for all.

Alhaji Hudu Iddrisu, Northern Regional Director of NHIA said the exercise also sought to create awareness amongst the public that NHIA was caring and responsible to the needs of the communities in which it operated.

Alhaji Iddrisu described the turn-out as impressive and commended members of the public for participating in the exercise, which would go a long way to save lives.

He encouraged all to subscribe to the NHIS and regularly renew their registration to enjoy reliable health care.

Mr Daniel Acquah, Senior Blood Organizer of TTH commended NHIA for coming out with the initiative, saying it would help to augment the blood stock of the hospital.
