NHIA indebted to health facilities in Dormaa Municipality

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) is in arrears of GH¢ 216,986.67 to various health facilities in the Dormaa Central Municipality.

Mr. Freeman Dandzo, Principal Accountant of the Dormaa Central Municipal Health Directorate said at the Directorate‘s Annual Performance Review Meeting on Thursday at Dormaa-Ahenkro in the Brong-Ahafo Region

He explained that the indebtedness was having a negative toll on the operations of the Directorate as it was hampering clinical service delivery, and made it very difficult for health institutions to discharge their operations and services effectively.

Mr. Dandzo also indicated that the government of Ghana and the Donor Pulled Fund (DFP) revenue inflows for 2013 and 2014 were cut short, which made it extremely uneasy for the Directorate to run its offices as money to purchase drugs became such an obstacle.

The principal accountant made a passionate appeal to the NHIA to expedite action in settling the outstanding arrears to enable those health facilities not only to remain in business but deliver efficient services to the people.

Madam Florence Iddrisa, Municipal Director of Health Services, extolled the efforts and sacrifices of health personnel in the area for helping to promote quality health service delivery in the sub-Districts of the Municipality.

She encouraged the health personnel to work harder to be able to achieve the Directorate's set objectives for the year.
