NGO presents equipment to two health institutions

Accra, March 16, GNA - Alternative Source of Income Programme, an Accra-based non-governmental organization (NGO), on Tuesday presented items and equipment to La General Hospital and the Mamobi Polyclinic. The equipment and items valued GH¢37,180, included wheelchairs, hospital beds, mattresses, blankets, crutches, uniforms for the para-medica= l personnel, rollators, walking racks, hoists for the lifting patients and toilet seats.

Similar equipment and items were presented to Mamobi Polyclinic but without hospital beds and mattresses. Mrs. Lordina Mahama, wife of Vice President John Dramani Mahama, and Executive Director of the NGO, presented the equipment. She commended government for investing in the health sector to improve health care delivery in the country.

"While government continues to make huge investments in the health sector to improve health care delivery, we must all complement its efforts,= " Mrs Mahama. She called on managements of the two health facilities to maintain the equipment to prolong their life span and to ensure better health care to th= e people.

Dr. Mildred Kumassah, Principal Medical Director in-charge of Mamobi Polyclinic, receiving the equipment on behalf of the two institutions, thanked the NGO for the gesture and pledged to utilise them for the benefit of patients.
