Moba'89 fundraising health screening on May Day

Accra, April 28, GNA - The 1989-year group of the Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA 89) will organise a free health-screening programme at the Accra Mall on May 1 to 3.

The three-day programme forms part of fundraising activities towards this year's Speech and Prize Giving Day. A statement signed by Mr Kwesi Berko, President of the group said visitors to the mall will have the advantage of being screened for blood pressure, glaucoma, blood sugar and a host of other ailments. Mr Berko also said there will be free stress relief massage services for persons who wish to be pampered. The Group's President said beneficiaries of these free services would be requested to make token donations towards the development of facilities at Mfantsipim School. He said doctors drawn from several hospitals in the metropolis have agreed to support the screening and will be providing their services for free.

Mr Berko called on shoppers to take advantage of the holiday period to check their health status while they shop. "You will be killing two birds with one stone and helping to support the education of our youth." He added that, special Mfantsipim souvenirs will be on sale and urged old students to endeavour to be at the Accra Mall to participate in the health check and purchase the souvenirs which include custom-made MOBA car crowns and wrist bands.

Mfantsipim tradition demands that a year group that is 20 years old sponsors the Speech and Prize giving day activities, and this year's mantle has fallen on MOBA 89. 28 April 09
