Minister of Health honoured

Accra, Sept. 20, GNA - Minister of Health, Major Courage Quashigah (Rtd), on Thursday charged Christians to restore the dignity of the country by shaping the mindset of the youth.

He noted that the moral decadence of the country was a problem and Christians should set good moral examples to draw people, especially the youth, to Christ.

The Minister made the remark when the Dzelukofe Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church presented him with an award. Major Quashigah said Christians needed to make the religion attractive by setting good examples for others.

The citation read: "You have always followed with keen interest the work of the EP Church. You never failed to attend major events....For these exemplary deeds the EP Church, Anloga, on the occasion of the Centenary celebration presents to you this award.

Major Quashigah said Christ should be the very foundation of the country and urged the clergy and Christians to preach Christ wherever they found themselves.

"I accept invitations from all religious bodies and take the opportunity to share the gospel," he said. Mr Fred Gobah-Tengey, Synod Committee Member of E.P. Church, who led the delegation, said though the Minister was not a member of the Church his moral, spiritual and financial contributions were highly appreciated.

He said the Church had also carefully observed that by dint of hard work and time consciousness the Minister had carved a niche for himself. Mr Gobah-Tengey said there was the need to introduce moral education into school curriculum to check the falling moral standards and urged politicians to set good examples by attending functions on time. 20 Sept. 07
