Medical team from Germany assists Buruli Ulcer patients

Agroyesum-Ashanti, Nov. 11, GNA 96 A five-member medical team from Rotary Club in Nuestadt, Germany has arrived at Saint Martin's Catholic Hospital at Agroyesum in the Amansie West District to undertake plastic surgery on Buruli Ulcer patients.

The team made up of a medical practitioner, two anaesthetists and two nurses would work at the hospital for two weeks. Speaking to newsmen Dr Steffer Gatzen, Leader of the team said they decided to assist patients at the hospital mostly children, some of whom had dropped out of school because of the disease.

Dr Gatzen appealed for support from the hospital's administration and the public in the discharge of their duty.

Mrs Paulina Opei, Hospital Matron, commended the team for their kind gesture to improve health care delivery in the area especially for buruli ulcer patients.

She appealed to buruli ulcer patients to report to the hospital for treatment.
