Mamobi General Hospital staff cries for help

Workers at Mamobi General Hospital in Accra have called on the health authorities to provide them the basic facilities to enable them carry out their duties effectively.

According to the workers the Hospital lacks basic facilities such as ambulance, generator, and rechargeable lamps.

Ms Rosina Twumasi a midwife at the hospital said lack of generator is affecting maternal services, compelling staff to use torch lights to attend to pregnant women in labour during power outages, and lack of an ambulance to refer emergency cases is also compounding the problem.

“At times it becomes very challenging to even get a torch light to deliver pregnant mothers. Once I had to run to beg the security man to lend me his torch light to deliver a pregnant woman who was already in labour,” she told Ghana News Agency in an interview.

Mrs Twumasi said the maternity ward also needs complete refurbishment and appealed to government and non-governmental organizations to come to the aid of the medical facility.
