Let’s close our ranks – Dr Manfred Takyi urges herbal practitioners

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Joy Industries Limited Herbal Doctor Manfred Takyi has urged captains in the herbal industries to develop a modern technology geared towards producing quality herbal products.

According to the CEO, it is often unfortunate to know that players in the herbal industry instead of developing a strong technical know – how coupled with up to date technology, they rather undermine each other.

Dr. Manfred therefore, implored all and sundry in the herbal sector to put their shoulders to the wheel in an attempt to make the sector attractive with its corresponding healthy competition.

“Consumers around the world deserve quality products and value for money, to this, it behooves on us as producers to produce quality herbal products with a modern technological touch to our customers”, he stressed.

He made the disclosure on Saturday in Koforidua during his outfit end of year get – together and awards night which was attended by high profile personalities including ministers of State, Members of Parliament (MPs), and celebrities among others.

The Joy Industries Limited boss continued that, in as much as his outfit welcomes competition from competitors, there should be room for equal playing field coupled with healthy competition, a situation he said would be the engine for the growth of the sector.

Giving a brief history about the company, the CEO stated that, the company started 10 years ago from a single bedroom apartment with just one product (joy ointment) by himself and two other brothers namely Dr. Harrison Tetteh and Dr. Enoch Sorgin in Suhum.

He continued that, the road to the current position of the company was through the motivation of Almighty Jehovah since they nearly gave up at a point in time when things were very difficult for them.

He further disclosed that, they started with only a makeshift car which develops more than ten times mechanical fault during the usual rounds as well as lack of soft loans to even purchase products.

The company which started with only started with only three brothers can now boast of a modern office and factory on a total land size of 20 acres as well as 350 direct and over 1000 workers across the country.

Apart from the company adding four (4) more products including JOY DADI BITTERS, JOY MEDICATED SOAP and JOY MMAA TWEDEA BITTERS, the company can further boast of a private radio station with the name BRYT Fm.

Dr. Takyi indicated that, plans are far reached to acquire two additional private radio stations in two regions as well as the construction of a five star hotel, private Zoo, artificial walkway and construction of school complex all in Koforidua.

Dr. Takyi hinted that, the endless effort of the company to employ more workers to help reduce the seemingly unemployment among the youth in the country has been met with stiff lack of funds and soft loans from financial institutions.

He also mentioned high taxes on imported alcohol which has been the major source of material for the production of the company’s flagship product Joy Dadi Bitters better known as JD as the other factor affecting the company.

He has however, called on government and financial institutions in the country to make room for flexible loans and consider reducing taxes on this product in order to see the expansion of local companies.

Notwithstanding the challenges, Dr. Takyi averred that, the company has injected over GHS2, 000,000.00 into Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) to support private and government institutions.

He has also assured customers of the company of management resolve not to compromise quality of their products which has gained the company both local and international recognition and asked customers to expect new products in the coming days.

The Ghana Highways Training School in Koforidua, venue for the programme, was a place to be over the weekend as ministers, traditional leaders and celebrities took to the floor with an artistry dance display with music from Abrantea Amakye Dede, Kojo Antwi and many others.
