Health director worried about growing number of still births

Nsuta (Ash), Jan 28, GNA - The Sekyere Central District Director of Health Service, Mr Cletus Opoku Amankwaah, has expressed concern about the growing number of still births in the area.

The area recorded 14 still births, last year, as against the previous figure of 11.

Speaking at an annual performance review meeting of the directorate at Nsuta, he said the situation could significantly change if expectant mothers regularly attended anti-natal clinic.

They also need to report early to the health facilities for supervised delivery.

Mr Amankwaah complained about inadequate accommodation for health personnel in the areas as well as the lack of logistics and said these should be addressed.

Mr Kwame Gyan, Ashanti Regional Health Information Manager, said staff strength and funds to the district health facilities needed to be improved to ensure quality service delivery.

Everything must be done to create the right conditions for efficient performance of the district hospitals, health centres and clinics, he added.

Nana Boamah Kwabi IV, Omanhene of Beposo Traditional Area, praised the health workers for accepting to work under difficult conditions, mentioning the bad nature of roads particularly in the district's portion of the Afram Plains.
