Ghana Gas registers over 1000 people on NHIS

The Ghana Gas Company Limited has registered over a thousand of the residents within its operational communities with the National Health Insurance Scheme.

The move forms part of the company’s social corporate responsibilities to the people of Atuabo and its surrounding areas where the company is located.

Responding to questions before the Government Assurances Committee of Parliament Thursday, the Chief Executive officer of the company Dr George Sipa Yankey said the company is committed to enhancing the social infrastructure within their catchment communities.

“Ghana Gas will like to thank the people of Atuabo for their patience all this while, indeed we are grateful to them.

“The company is mindful of its social corporate responsibilities and we will live up to them. Currently we have registered over one thousand of the residents within our operational area on the National health Insurance scheme and we are paying the bills.

“We are also going to refurbish the hospital around the area to enable it offer better services to the people and our own staff.

"Again we are developing a playground were children in the area can go and relax during their free period,” the former health minister stated.

He also noted that the company is minded to monetising every aspect of its operations and will soon provide enough gas to reduce the importation of external gas into the country.
