l use India hemp to cure asthma - convict

An Accra circuit court on Wednesday sentenced Sulley Mohammed, a trader, to two months imprisonment and 100 penalty units for use of narcotic drugs.

The convict, who has been in custody for two months, pleaded guilty with explanation.

Explaining to the court presided over by Mr Francis Obiri, Mohammed said he used the Indian hemp as a substitute for inhaler to cure his asthmatic illness.

“The Indian hemp is better than the inhaler doctors gave me from the hospital,” the convict said.

The judge advised the convict that if he was not interested in inhalers, he could use garlic and honey to cure his illness rather than using narcotic drugs.
