Farmer ordered to be held in prison custody

The Juaso Circuit Court, presided over by Mr. Fredrick Tetteh, has ordered a farmer arrested over the defilement of a primary two pupil at Praaso near Konongo, to be held in prison custody.

Kwame Afrane pleaded not guilty and would make his next appearance on Tuesday, December 1.

Police Chief Inspector Birikorang Peasah said the incident happened on November 11.

A senior brother of the victim, having noticed a change in her gaiety decided to send her to the Konongo-Odumase Government Hospital to get her medically examined and determine what was wrong with her.

It was there that she was found to have been defiled. They discovered a big opening in her vagina, which was unusual for a girl of her age.

Police Chief Inspector Peasah said upon probing, she told everything about how the accused had sexually assaulted her in a church building.

The prosecution said a formal report was made to the police and Afrane was arrested.
