Suspected “serial murderer” arrested in Ho

The police in Ho seems to have unraveled the mystery disappearances of people in the Ho Township following the arrest of one Moses Gave, said to be a “serial murderer.”

Gave, 35, alias John Tigo, allegedly inflicted multiple cutlass wounds on, and robbed a 60-year-old retired nurse at Freetown, near the Ho Leprosarium on Tuesday, July 16, 2013.

Madam Doris Ackumey was slashed on the head and neck, and had four of her fingers chopped off.

Superintendent of Police, Nicholas Opare Ofosu-Hene, in charge of Ho Police Station, who briefed the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said at about 1320 hours on that day, Gave trailed Madam Ackumey to her building site and attacked her from behind with a cutlass and took away her GHc3,800.

Taking Madam Ackumey for dead, Gave allegedly dragged her into a ditch and covered her partly with sand and dashed into a nearby bush.

Superintendent Ofosu-Hene said a few minutes later, some “good Samaritans” chanced on Madam Ackumey and took her to the Volta Regional Hospital.

He said while Madam Ackumey was being revived at the Hospital, Gave also reported at the Hospital with some minor injuries alleging that a woman had attacked him.

Superintendent Ofosu-Hene said Gave was taken into an emergency ward where Madam Ackumey identified him as the one who attacked her.

He said the police then arrested Gave and during searches on his farm, near the crime scene, a skull of a small boy declared missing two months ago was discovered.

Superintendent Ofosu-Hene said the police also suspect Gave in connection with a headless body found Tuesday evening in the same community.

Meanwhile, Madam Ackumey is said to be in critical condition but responding to treatment whilst Gave is in police custody.
