Small scale miner arrested

Cape Coast, June 2, GNA - A circuit court in Cape Coast presided over by Mr. Samuel Asare Nyarko on Wednesday remanded Kwabena Danso, a small scale miner at Twifo Praso, for alleged armed robbery and dealing in narcotic drugs.

His plea was not taken and he would be re-arraigned on June 15. Chief Inspector Kingsford Francis Ockom, told the court that on December 24 last year someone reported to the police at Twifo Heman that the accused and his friend, one Anthony Abeiku Wilson, were in the process of robbing a house at Antoasi.

But when the police got to the scene the two robbers fled on an unregistered motor bike. The police gave them a hot chase and arrested Wilson who was riding with Kwabena Danso behind.

Chief Inspector Ockom said Danso escaped while Wilson was put before the Cape Coast circuit court and is now serving a five- year-jail term for an earlier offence.

On May 30, the police at Twifo Praso had information that some young men were dealing in narcotic drugs at Tufou junction a suburb of Twifo Praso. On reaching the scene the others escaped but Danso was arrested.
