Woman sttempts to poison boyfriend

Tarkwa (W/R), Jan. 25, GNA - Gifty Quaicoo 35, a farmer living at Pieso in the Wassa West District has appeared before a Tarkwa District Court on provisional charge of murder when she attempted to kill her boyfriend Issah Seidu Busanga but her brother Edmund Amoah, 37, a farm labourer was rather poisoned and died.

Her plea was not taken and remanded in prison custody to re-appear on Monday, February 12.

Police Chief Inspector Kwadwo Fordjour prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr Osei Kwame Gyamfi, that Gifty prepared fufu and palm nut soup and poisoned it to kill Busanga.

He said when Busanga tasted the food he complained of stomach ache and was rushed to the Government Hospital at Tarkwa where he was treated and discharged.

The prosecution said Gifty's brother, Amoah who was not at home when the incident occurred ate the rest of the food and thereafter developed severe stomach ache and started vomiting.

Police Chief Inspector Fordjour said Amoah was also rushed to the hospital but died later and the corpse had been deposited at the hospital's mortuary for autopsy.

He said a dog and a goat that ate some of the food had also died.
