Unemployed refused bail, remanded for stealing

Tamale, July 31, (Esther), GNA - A Tamale District Court on

Tuesday remanded Issah Mohammed, a 25-year-old unemployed

until August 11, for stealing clothing valued at GHc 829 belonging to

Madam Gladys Gamoor, a lecturer at the University for

Development Studies. Mohammed pleaded not guilty. The prosecution had told the court that the accused had once

been granted bail for a similar offence for which he served a

three-month jail but while on bail he stole again. The court was told that the accused went with an accomplice

Huudu Iddrisu who was also remanded until August 11, to see a

friend who had returned to Tamale from Accra. On reaching the house of Madam Gamoor, the accused asked

Iddrisu to wait for him outside. The accused then jumped over the

wall into the house, collected the clothing and threw them over the

wall to Iddrisu. The prosecution said the accused took to his knees when some

neighbours of the complaint saw him.
