The police at the Akwawso checkpoint near Sefwi-Juaboso, have seized large quantity of dried leaves, suspected to be cannabis, from two people.

The cannabis was compressed into a parcel and concealed in a big black polythene bag.

The suspects, Zakaria Adams, Miner and Abraham Gyabeng, Farmer on Thursday appeared before the Bibiani Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Baptist Filson, charged with illegal possession of drugs.

Their pleas were not taken and they were remanded into prison custody to reappear on August 28.

Police Chief Inspector Lucky Goglomi told the court that, police officers on routine duty at the checkpoint saw a KIA Taxi in which the suspected cannabis was being transported approaching, and stop it.

He said a search conducted on the car uncovered the dried leaves and Adams was arrested after he admitted ownership.
