Two charged for murder at Duayaw-Nkwanta

Sunyani, Nov. 18, GNA - A Magistrate court at Duayaw-Nkwanta has remanded a tractor operator and his mate for allegedly killing a friend, Akwasi Yeboah, a 34-year-old labourer, in the Tano district in Brong Ahafo. The pleas of the accused persons, Kwadjo Eminiabo, the tractor operator, and Kofi Kabie, driver's mate, were not taken. They would reappear on December 14, 2010.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Seth Charles Oteng, Brong Ahafo Regional Police Commander told the Ghana News Agency that on November 12 this year the accused and the deceased returned from the farm and departed to their various homes at Yamfo.

He said Kabie came to the deceased's home at around 2000 hours and invited him (deceased) to accompany him to a place. DCOP Oteng said after allegedly killing his friend, Kabie returned home and washed down ostensibly to clean the deceased's blood stains after, which he went back to the deceased's home. When the deceased's wife asked about the whereabouts of her husband, Kabie said he had gone to work with some people in the bush and would return later.

The Regional Police Commander said the next morning the deceased's wife had information that her husband's body was lying in a street at Yamfo with deep cuts all over his body. She rushed to the scene and after identifying the husband's body she reported the incident to the police at Duayaw-Nkwanta. Kabie and Eminiabo were arrested and after investigations charged with the offence. The body of the deceased had been deposited at Saint John of God Hospital at Duayaw Nkwanta for autopsy. 18 Nov. 10
