Two arrested over recruitment for companies in Tema

Tema, June 17, GNA -- The Tema Community One Police have arrested two suspected fraudsters who allegedly defrauded 67 people of more than GH¢1,600 under the false pretence of recruiting them for employment in some reputable companies in Tema.

John Christian Fiano 32, Managing Director and Enoch Kwame Boateng 32, Personnel Manager of Rogital Agency Company collected between GH¢25 and GH¢30 from each applicant as registration fee. Speaking to Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, Superintendent of Police Cephas Bediako, Community One Police Commander said the suspects pasted notices of employment on walls in Accra and Tema to recruit people for Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority (GPHA), Nestle Ghana Limited and PZ Company. He said the suspects claimed that managements of the companies had contracted them to recruit accounts officers, marketing officers, office assistants, purchasing clerks, secretaries, storekeepers and caterers for their companies.

Police Superintendent Bediako said some of the victims informed the police about the activities of the company that operated from a room at Community One Site 16. He said 67 application forms and curriculum vitae with passport pictures were retrieved from them when they were arrested on June 12. Police Superintendent Bediako said 30 of the victims had so far reported to the police and appealed to the remaining 37 to assist the police complete its investigations. He said the suspects would appear before court on Wednesday, June 18.
