Two Fulani men arrested by police

Wa, Jan. 1, GNA- The Wa Police on Monday arrested two Fulani men at Kunfabiala in the Wa West District for threatening to kill a Driver and his passengers on board a Nissan Urvan Bus. The Police who named the arrested men as Adama Alhassan and Iddrisu Adams said they were also pursuing a third man, who managed to escape. Narrating the incident to the Ghana News Agency, (GNA) at Wa, ACP Robert Ayalingo, Upper West Regional Police Commander said Osman Abu, the driver of the Urvan bus, loaded his vehicle at Wa bound for Sawla and the three Fulani men were among his passengers, who said they would alight at Kunfabiala.

He said when th e driver insisted he should pay, he rather pulled out a locally manufactured pistol and pointed it at him as well as all the passengers on board the vehicle. The sight of the gun frightened the driver so he allowed them to alight without paying up. Mr Ayalingo said after a few metres drive, the driver met a police patrol team and reported the Fulani men to them. The patrol team quickly moved in on them, but again the Fulani man pulled the gun at the Police.
He said corporal Ayene Tinga who was handling a Police rifle hit the Fulani man's hand with it, overpowered him and seized his gun. The Police Commander who suspects them to be armed robbers said they would be arrainged before court soon after the holidays. In another development, the police have also intensified the search for suspects in the Wa Municipality, who allegedly killed a stranger in the Municipality, who was later identified as one Kobina Ebo. The Police commander said it was looking for the people who alleged that the deceased was a thief and beat him mercilessly and later sent him to the hospital and quickly disappeared.
