Techiman court convicts pupil teacher for robbery

Techiman (B/A), Dec. 18, GNA - A Techiman circuit court presided by Mr. Michael Cudjo Ntumy has sentenced a 20-year-old pupil teacher, Kwabena Amponsah, to nine years imprisonment in hard labour for robbery. Amponsah pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful entry and causing harm and his sentence would run concurrently.

Police Inspector John Amponsah, the prosecutor, told the court on Wednesday that on November 23 the convict broke into the room of Mr Abubakari Amoah, a farmer, and proceeded to ransack the room and while he was at it Mr Amoah woke up.

But Amponsah attacked him and inflicted knife wounds and his ribs. Mr Amoah shouted for help and neighbours overpowered the convict and took him to the police station.
