Suspected robber thief shot dead at Simpa

Tarkwa, (W/R) Aug. 8, GNA - Kwabena Ghansa Tandoh, a suspected rubber thief was shot dead by a watchman in a rubber plantation at Simpa near Tarkwa last Friday.

His accomplice Kwadwo Offin was arrested.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency here, the Tarkwa Police Divisional Commander Chief Superintendent Daniel Sapark Sampana said one Alexander Amoah of Wassa Simpa near Tarkwa had a rubber plantation, from which thieves had been steeling the produce lately. As a result, the owner of the farm employed one Cephas Dogbe as a watchman.

According to Chief Superintendent Sampana, the watchman saw a car, which stopped near the rubber plantation and two people got out of the car and started walking into the plantation.

He said, the watchman questioned the two where they were going. On hearing the voice of the watchman, the two started running away and the watchman fired killing Tandoh instantly.

The watchman shouted for help and with the support of neighbours who responded to his distress call arrested Offin the alleged accomplice.

The driver of the vehicle drove off on hearing the voice of the watchman.

The body of Tandoh has been deposited at the Tarkwa Government Hospital mortuary whiles Offin is in police custody. Investigations are on-going, Chief Superintendent Sampana added. 8 Aug. 06
