Suspect of killing gang in Suhum arrested

Suhum, Feb. 6. GNA - A 32-year-old unemployed, suspected to be a member of a Suhum serial killing syndicate has been arrested at Niifio, a farming village near Suhum.

Narrating the story to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Chairperson of the Unit Committee at Niifio, Madam Felicia Kwabe said the suspect was spotted by some school children early in the morning on Wednesday January 31 when going to school and reported to some members of the committee.

She said two members of the community watch committee, Narh Kwabena, and Frank Kumodzi confronted

the suspect who gave his name as Abraham Kwame and said he was travelling to Krobo Odumase and decided to see a friend at Niifio, but all of a sudden he took to his heels.

He was given a hot chase but managed to escape. An asafo group was mobilized to search for the suspect who was found in the bush covered with dry leaves.

When he was searched, a knife, a long iron bar and a rope was found on him, all in a sack and was handed over to the police. When the police at Suhum was contacted, a spokesman confirmed the story and said the suspect was on remand.
