Robbers grabbed at Abeka

The use of motorbikes for patrols, a directive by the police administration, has led to the arrest of two suspected robbers who operate using unregistered motorbikes around North Kaneshie and Abeka.

The suspected robbers identified as Alidu Musah aka Rasta, 21 and Kofi Musa aka kwame Kwesi, 18 were grabbed at Abeka near Peace FM after they had snatched a handbag from a victim at North Industrial area.

They are now in the custody of the Kaneshie District Police Command awaiting prosecution.

Narrating their arrest to DAILY GUIDE, Chief Superintendent Fleance Senam Adika, the Kaneshie District Police Commander said after the introduction of motorbikes in patrols by the police administration, the Kaneshie Division also assigned some policemen to patrol within some parts of Kaneshie using motorbikes.

Around 5:30pm Monday evening, the police spotted the two suspects snatching a bag from a lady around the old Melcom building, North Industrial Area.

The police gave the suspects a hot chase and managed to grab them around Abeka where their motorbike had run into a ditch.

The suspects were immediately brought to the Kaneshie District Police Station together with the stolen bag.

The victim who was also at the station to lodge a complaint immediately identified the two as those who snatched her bag.

Chief Superintendent Adika commended the police administration for introducing motorbikes in patrols.

He said those criminals who use motorbikes in their activities would now be their target.

He urged the public to support the police with information to bring criminality to its barest minimum.
