Reckless driver fined GHc2,160.00

The Juaso Circuit Court presided over by Mr. Alex Obeng Asante has sentenced a driver whose recklessness led to a road crash to a fine of GHc2,160.00.

Mathew Adjei Frimpong, 44, would serve 36 years in prison, should he fail to pay the money.

He run his KIA Rio taxi into a Ford Ranger, the impact of which caused the Ford to fall into a ditch on its side, resulting in cuts and bruises to three passengers traveling on it.

The court heard from Police Inspector Manasseh Obimpe that the incident happened on August 17, at about 0400 hours.

Frimpong was at the time driving under the influence of alcohol and had no driving license, charges he admitted.

The convict was driving towards Juaso from Konongo and on reaching a sharp bend close to the Juaso cemetery he lost control of the steering wheel, veered into the lane of the Ford, coming from the opposite direction and crashed into it.

The injured passengers received treatment at the Juaso District Hospital.
