Police arrests a 49-year old man for attempted murder

Takoradi, Oct. 16, GNA - John Essuman, 49, alias 'Soccer' is in the grips of the Kwesimintsim Police for allegedly shooting one John Amoah, a 38-year- businessman in the stomach at Assakae, near Takoradi.

The victim, who is in critical condition, is receiving treatment at the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Kwesimintsim at the weekend, the District Police Commander, Mr Ayamga Yakubu, said during interrogation, soccer said the victim called him an irresponsible man who could not cater for his family during a quarrel, which infuriated him to take the action.

Mr Yakubu said on October 13, the suspect went to the house of the victim around 2000 hours and shot him at the lower abdomen with a locally manufactured gun.

He said the suspect then fled to a nearby bush when he noticed that his action had attracted attention.

Mr Yakubu said some residents rushed to the scene and saw the victim lying in a pool of blood and sent him to hospital.

He said upon a tip-off, the police and some relatives of the victim arrested the suspect at his hideout at Nsuaem near Tarkwa.
