Police arrest two for firing shots at Farmers' Day

Adaklu Abuadi (V/R), Dec. 9, GNA - The police on Friday arrested three people at Adaklu Abuadi during the Adaklu Anyigbe District's National Farmers Day celebration.

Mr. Joseph Kutu, Superintendent of Police in charge of the Ho Municipality, said they were arrested for firing gunshots about 200 metres from the durbar grounds and when searched two single barrel guns and six live ammunitions were found on them.

Mr. Kutu said the heavy police presence including few soldier was due to an information they had that some people were allegedly planning to disrupt the programme.

Mr. Mawuli Kwame Dabi, the District Chief Executive, said in an address it was the selfless desire of the people of the district to move it forward and called for peace among the three traditional areas. He said the district was gaining popularity in the production of tomatoes in the country and appealed to investors to establish a tomato-processing factory in the district.

Togbe Gbogbi Atsa V, Paramount Chief of Adaklu Traditional Area, said the traditional area has a large track of arable land of which only a little over 30 percent was being cultivated and appealed to investors to come to the area and invest in agriculture.

Mr. Eli Adade from Adaklu Ablornu was declared the best district farmer and 20 others, including a physically challenged person and one Agricultural Extension Officer, were also given awards.
