Five men suspected to be linked to a string of robbery in the Ashanti Region, have been arrested and are being held by the police.

Their names were given as Apraku Adabor, Kwaku Owusu, William Opoku alias “Father Blessing”, Kwadwo Owusu, and Thomas Osei Kwadwo, alias “Lion”.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwaku Ampofo Duku, Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander, told a media briefing in Kumasi that they were seized at different locations.

Three stolen cars have been recovered together with a revolver, a locally manufactured pistol, live ammunition and a jack knife.

ACP Duku said the suspected criminals have been active in the Daban, Apramang, Daban Newsite and Atasomanso areas for the past four months.

They allegedly raped some of their female victims after robbing them of their money and other valuables.

ACP Duku said during one of the robberies, they shot an employee of Mobile Telecommunication Network in the head and fled with an unspecified amount of money, laptop computer and four mobile phones.

The victim, Richard Darfah Mensah, however survived.

The criminals at another time struck at the house of a lecturer of the Christian Service University College and made off with cash of GH¢1,100.00 and two mobile phones.

He also spoke of how Kwaku Owusu and Adabor had robbed a Chinese of his Toyota RAV 4, cash of GH¢3,000.00 and Samsung mobile phone on December 24, last year, at about 21:00 hours.

They were arrested by the police an hour after the attack at Buokrom-Abease.

ACP Duku said they would soon be put before court to face justice.
