Photographer nabbed for shooting Legon student

A Thirty-Eight year old photographer, Richard Agbodo, who robbed and shot a law student near the Pentagon Hostel in Accra on Saturday, has been arrested.

The police said the suspect is a member of a gang, terrorizing students, lecturers and residents in that area. Richard Agbodo, a native and resident of Hohoe in the Volta Region, was arrested at a hotel at Agbogba, a suburb of Accra.

His arrest followed a report by two law students of the Mountcrest University College at Kanda, Accra.

The police said the victims were on their way home from the University of Ghana, Legon campus, at about 7.15pm on Saturday after a study group meeting.

They said Richard grabbed the lady and shot the male student in the thigh before bolting with their bags containing lecture notes, textbooks, passport, laptops, mobile phones and money.

The 25-year-old victim was rushed to the Legon Hospital where he was admitted for three days.

Police intelligence led to the arrest of Richard Agbodo at the hotel. A search on him revealed a locally made pistol and some of the items he robbed from the victims.

Richard admitted the offence and led the police to retrieve the remaining items from the bush where the robbery occurred.

He also admitted knowing one Attah Kyei, who was arrested for similar offence in January this year and was convicted for 20 years in hard labour.
