Nkoranza Police recorded 243 cases in 2014

The Nkoranza Police handled 243 cases between January and December last year, the Municipal Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joseph Owusu has disclosed.

DSP Owusu who made the disclosure in a Report about the security situation of the Municipality to the Nkoranza Municipal Assembly at its end-of-year general meeting at Nkoranza, said 80 out of the number had been prosecuted in court, with 68 of them convicted.

He said, 77 stealing cases, being the highest, were recorded, stressing that the most serious among them was a recent murder case which happened at Nkwaese, near Donkro-Nkwanta, when a man was killed by an armed robber.

He said the Report also included eight rape and four defilement cases, adding that during the period under review, eight people also died through motor-bike accidents.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, DSP Owusu said, the Municipal Police Command had intensified patrols on the highways, adding that the Police continue to escort passengers, including traders, particularly fish mongers from the area to Yeji and Kajeji, to prevent attacks on them by armed robbers.
