Nigerian jailed for stealing mobile phone

Begoro (E/R), Dec. 18, GNA - A 20-year-old Nigerian, Osazeth Idjoha, has been sentenced to nine months imprisonment in hard labour by the Begoro District Court for allegedly stealing a friend's mobile phone.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing. The court, presided over by Mr Robert Djan, also ruled that the convict should be repatriated after serving the sentence for illegal entry into the country.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector William Kwasi Nkrumah told the court that the convict visited the friend, Seth Dankwa, on December 3, this year and stole the item.

He said when the complainant detected the theft and confronted the convict, he denied the allegation, but a week later, another friend saw the mobile phone with the convict and reported to the complainant, who later reported to the police for the arrest.
