Narcotic dealer jailed 15 years

Juaso (Ash), Aug. 18, GNA - A 23-year-old farmer at Agogo in the Asante-Akim North District, has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment, by the Juaso Circuit Court, for possessing 3,099.7 grams of Indian hemp. Akwasi Addae was convicted on his own plea.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Salifu Haruna, told the Court presided over by Mr Jacob Boon, that at 0730 hours on May 25, 2004, the Agogo police acting on a tip off, obtained a search warrant to search the accused.

The search led to the discovery of the Indian hemp concealed in a travelling bag and 16 polythene bags. Chief Inspector Haruna said a report by the Police Forensic Laboratory confirmed that the accused was in possession of the narcotic product.
