A Tarkwa Circuit Court has admitted Eric Mintah, 38, a miner, to bail in the sum of GH¢ 3,800.00 for defrauding a businessman.
He pleaded not guilty and would re-appear before the Court on April 7, for further hearing.

Prosecuting, Police Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah, told the Court, that in December 2015, the accused collected GH¢ 4,500.00 from the complainant, Emmanuel Ewusi, who was his friend, under the pretext of supplying him with gold.

He said after the accused received the money, he fled from the town and all efforts to trace him proved futile.

He said on March 4, the complainant had information that the accused had been arrested for his involvement in a similar fraud case and went to the police station to identify and lodged a formal complainant.

According to the prosecutor, Ewusi admitted the offence in his caution statement and was accordingly charged with the offence.
