Mason jailed 25 years for defilement

Tarkwa(W/R), Oct. 01, GNA - A Tarkwa Circuit Court has sentenced Kwaku Morkwah, a 25-year-old mason to 25 years imprisonment on his own plea for defiling a nine-year-old girl at Bogoso. Police Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr Justice John Ajet Nasam that the complainant, Ms Comfort Dadzie a trader and mother of the victim lived in the same house with the accused at Kookooase, a suburb of Bogoso.

He said on the evening of August 7, this year, the accused asked the victim to accompany him to collect some video cassettes and on the way lured her to an uncompleted building and defiled her.

The prosecution said during the act a witness passing by heard an unusual noise in the building, and when the witness approached the scene, the accused jumped through a window and escaped. He said the victim was taken home and a report was made to the police and during interrogation, she mentioned the accused who was arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
