An 18-year-old mechanic apprentice, Gideon Adjetey, has allegedly been tortured to death by five persons at Magazine, a community in the New Juaben Municipality of the Eastern region, for refusing to honour the invitation of a fetish priest.

The deceased, was allegedly beaten to pulp and left under the scorching sun by his assailants who had accused him of stealing, Starr News’ Kojo Ansah has reported.

He died shortly after he was rushed to the Koforidua Government Hospital Friday.

Confirming the incident, the Okorase District Police commander who also acts as the commander for New Juaben, ASP George Preprah Mills, said the wife of the deceased reported the matter to the Police.

He said Police officers were quickly dispatched to the scene and found deep cuts and wounds on the body of the deceased, which had been tied up and left in the open.

He noted that the deceased was able to mention names of his assailants before he passed on. The Police subsequently followed up and have arrested two of the suspects from their hideouts at Aboabo near Nkurakan in the Yilo Krobo district.

The Police revealed to Starr News that the suspects pounced on the deceased after he refused to follow them to a fetish priest over theft accusation.
