Man jailed seven years for defiling 14-year-old girl

Juaso (Ash), June 22, GNA - The Juaso circuit court, presided over by Mr Jacob Boon has sentenced a painter to seven years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 14-year-old girl. Francis Kwame Sogi, 32, pleaded guilty to the offence and was convicted on his own plea.

Chief Inspector Stephen Opare, prosecuting told the court that both Sogi and the victim lived in the same house at Konongo. He said on June 14, this year at about 0100 hours, the victim's mother who got out of bed to urinate spotted the accused emerging from the victim's room and confronted him but he denied ever entering the room.

However, when she confronted the victim she confessed that Sogi had had sex with her on five occasions.

The prosecutor said the next morning the victim's mother reported the case to the Konongo police where a medical form was issued to the victim to attend hospital.

The form was later returned having been endorsed by the Konongo-Odumase Government Hospital.

Sogi was subsequently arrested and upon interrogation admitted the offence but indicated that it was his first time.
