A labourer who works with a popular eatery, Ashanti Home Touch Restaurant, has been arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court for robbery.

The accused, David Anaba aka Janes reportedly snatched a Nokia Lumia mobile phone from one Rita Dede Nartey, a fashion designer at Oyarifa in Accra while she was making a call.

According to the prosecutor, Chief Inspector K. Adu, the accused at about 10:30pm on August 31, this year succeeded in taking the phone worth GH¢450 from the complainant at knifepoint.

Appearing before trial judge Abaogye Tandoh, Anaba denied the charges and was remanded into police custody until September 19.

On the said day, Dede was making a call on her phone on the street of Salem, near Oyarifa when the accused, who was passing by, attacked her with a knife, robbed her of the said phone and bolted.

Dede later identified Anaba and the youth of the area arrested him in his house where the phone was retrieved from him.

Anaba, who was handed over to the Ayi Mensah Police, admitted the offence in his caution statement.
