Kasoa police adopt measures to curb robbery

Kasoa (C/R) Nov. 8 GNA - The Kasoa District Police Command has put in measures to help curb the rising incidence of robbery and other crimes in the area.

As part of the measures anyone in possession of a gun or any ammunition has to notify the police especially the Kasoa police patrol team. The District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Jordan Quaye made this known in a press statement issued at Kasoa in the Central Region and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Winneba on Friday. The statement directed that anyone transporting a weapon should let his or her intention known to the police.

It stressed that the directive include carrying a weapon to any security installation or area including the banks.

"Under no circumstance should such weapons be it shot guns, rifles, cartridges, bullets, fire crackers, toy guns, knives, machetes, spear or any killer-weapon be carried into banking halls or filling stations." The statement said any weapon that is concealed in vehicles, motorbikes or on a person without prior notification to the police would be confiscated to the state.

It said the person carrying the weapon would be arrested and considered as a robber or criminal.
