IGP orders investigations into alleged extortion

Accra, Feb. 13, GNA - The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr P. K. Acheampong on Monday directed that allegations of extortion of money by Police personnel on barrier duties between Techiman and Bawku as published by an Accra daily on February 7 be investigated.

At a Regional, Divisional and District Commanders meeting in Kumasi for the Brong Ahafo, Northern and Upper East Regions, the IGP said the investigations should among other things identify the Police, personnel who were on duty on the said date and submit a report by Friday February 17, according to statement in Accra signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) David S. Eklu.
