Herbalist fined million cedis for assaulting rival

Asamankese, July 19, GNA - A 28-year-old herbalist, Ebenezer Asare, who slapped a trader over a girl friend has been fined one million cedis by the Asamankese Circuit Court.

In default, Asare, who pleaded guilty, would go to prison for three months in hard labour.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Alhassan Amadu, said Asare and the trader, Ignatius Ayivor, lived at Asuotwene, near Asamankese. He said for over a month, there had been a misunderstanding between them over a girl.

Inspector Amadu said on June 14 this year, Ayivor left home to make a phone call and on his way met Asare who asked him to explain why he had been informing people that he Asare had taken his girl friend from him.

Though Ayivor denied the allegation, Asare insulted and slapped him.

Ayivor made a complaint to the Police and Asare was arrested.
