Assistance Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mr Douglas Akrofi Asiedu, Regional Police Commander, briefing the press said the Police patrol team had information at dawn on Thursday that occupants of a private Ford vehicle with registration number GT 1182T were robbers.

He said the team intercepted the car at old Weija Barrier and arrested men, whose names were given as Abdu Annan, 33, Trader from Prampram; Ben Grey 36, Trader from Sogakope and Kpodo Jebrila, 23, Security Officer from Big Ada.

ACP Akrofi Asiedu said the team found a pistol with seven rounds of ammunition on Abdu Annan, a hammer and a crow bar were also found on the others. ACP Akrofi Asiedu said the Police were informed at about 0230 hours on the same day that four armed robbers had seized an Opel Astra cab with registration number GW 3672 T somewhere in Accra. The Police trailed and caught up with them at the Ridge Hospital area. The suspect on seeing the Police abandoned the car and took to their heels but the Police apprehended two of the suspects; Francis Nsuoh, 21 and Richard Amoah, 18, he said.

ACP Akrofi Asiedu said the Police retrieved a pistol from Richard Amoah, 180,000 cedis and other car documents bearing the name of one Richard Nketia.

He said the Police appreciated the effort of informants and appealed to the public to continue to assist and cooperate with the Police by giving information on any criminal activity and the Police would respond with professional alacrity.

"We assure that the Police would act without delay upon tip-off and we promise to reward all informants", ACP Akrofi Asiedu said.
