Fast Track High Court requests formal bail application on Tsibu-Darko

Accra, Dec. 21, GNA 96 An Accra Fast Track High Court on Thursday requested a formal bail application on Prince Tsibu-Darko, 49, owner of the Koreana Hotel in Tema, who is being held for an alleged drug-related offence. The accused person was absent when sitting resumed on Thursday and this prompted the Court to ask of his whereabouts.

Mrs Yvonne Obuobisa, Senior State Attorney; told the Court that the accused was on admission at Nyaho Clinic and would, therefore, not be in the position to attend Court. The Defence Team told the Court that they were aware of their Client's condition. The Court asked both the Prosecution and Defence to put in a formal application to that effect. It, therefore, adjourned the matter to December 22.

The Court had earlier refused bail application when Tsibu-Darko was put before the Fast Track High Court. Tsibu-Darko is alleged to have exported 3,700 kilograms of cocaine to a European country in the middle of 2005, which was intercepted and seized. He has pleaded not guilty to carrying out prohibited business relating to narcotic drugs. The Court presided over by Justice Jones Dotse, a Court of Appeal Judge, who was sitting with additional responsibility as a High Court Judge, remanded him into Police custody.
