Farm labourer defiles 12-year-old girl

Bibiani (W/R), June 12, GNA - The Bibiani Circuit Court has remanded a 26-year-old farm labourer, Kwabena Checker into prison custody for defiling a 12-year-old pupil on three separate occasions at Kyensee-Korkor near Sefwi Bonsu Nkwanto in the Western Region. Kwabena Checker whose plea was not taken would re-appear before the court on June 19.

Giving the facts of the case, Detective Police Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court, presided over by Mr. Kwaku Aboagye that the victim lives with her parents at Nana Nketia village near Kyensee-Korkor. He added that accused is also a farm labourer in the same village. The prosecutor said on February 1 this year, the victim's mother sent her to call her younger sister, who was then playing outside their compound.

He further said at about 2000 hours, the accused met the victim and lured her to an uncompleted building and had sex with her and gave her five thousand cedis.

Police Detective Inspector Amponsah said on February 4 this year, the accused took the girl to some premises and for the second time had sex with her and again gave her two thousand cedis. Prosecution said the accused then warned the victim not to inform her parents about the ordeal.

He said the victim later reported of severe pains in her private part and then informed the parents about her ordeal. He said the parent reported the case to the police and the accused was arrested.

Prosecutor further said a police medical form was issued to the victim, which confirmed the act.

He said after police investigations the accused was charged with the offence.
