Fanmilk staff charged with stealing

A Sales Executive of Fanmilk Ghana Limited, who was accused of misappropriating GH¢ 72,940.44 on Thursday appeared before a Circuit Court in Accra charged with stealing.

Prosper Kpogli Darlington, denied the charge and was admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢ 100,000 with two sureties one of whom should be a civil servant.

The court presided over by Ms Ellen Vivian Amoah has fixed July 6, for hearing.

Prosecuting Chief Inspector Charles Chester told the court that Mr Stephen Karikari, the Regional Sales Manager of Fan Milk Ghana Limited is the complainant.

Chief Inspector Chester said in March, Darlington was to embark on his annual leave so he was asked to hand over his stock to one Mr Kingsley Ayeh.

According to the prosecutor, Mr Ayeh inherited debt of four customers totalling GH? 5,200.

The four customers confirmed they had paid the money to Darlington.

When Darlington was confronted he admitted that he had collected the amount and he would pay later. However, on his assumption of duty from his leave, Darlington could not give reasons for non- payment of the sum.

Prosecution said management of Fanmilk Ghana Limited decided to conduct auditing into his transactions.

The prosecutor said on May 15, management lodged a complainant with the Police and Darlington was admitted to Police enquiry bail.

Prosecution said when Darlington could not give reasons for his actions, management conducted a forensic audit and it came to light that Darlington had misappropriated GH¢ 72,940.44 cedis.

When given copies of the audit report, he failed to meet management to reconcile his accounts but stated that he wanted to go to Court.
