Educationist, 58, remanded for defilement

Juaso (Ash), May 19, GNA - A 58- year old educationist, Yaw Obeng Frimpong, has been remanded into prison custody by the Juaso Circuit Court, presided by Mr Justice S.K. Sarpong Appiah, for defiling a 14-year-old girl. His plea was not taken and he would re-appear on May 28. Police Detective Inspector Adu Ofori told the court that the complainant is an associate pastor of Hope of Faith Prayer Camp at Konongo, while the accused is the officer in charge of Senior High Schools at the Asante-Akim North Municipal Education Directorate. On May 7, the victim, who had come from Kete-Krachi, in the Volta Region, to look for her mother at the prayer camp, could not find her and spent the night at the camp.

The prosecution said the following day, one Akua, who knew the victim, in Kete-Krachi, saw her loitering in the vicinity and offered to accommodate her till she found the mother. Akua, however, took the victim to Frimpong to provide her shelter but he sexually abused her for four days until she managed to escape on May 11. The victim then told the complainant about her ordeal and he took her to the accused but Frimpong chased them away with a cutlass. The case was, consequently, reported to the Police.
